Yem – “Ethiopia Danosae”

The Yem are one of the Omotic peoples of Southwest Ethiopia who were assimilated into the Ethiopian Christian Kingdom in the 1400’s. In this “Ethiopia Danosae” title, Negarit Band captures the swing-feel 5/4 rhythm of Yem music before shifting to 5/8 rhythms during the guitar solo. The result is an exotic indigenous jazz music mix.
